Says “Leadership & Innovation: Fueling India’s Future, India’s Ground Game Key to Victory”
New Delhi : Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday emphasized the importance of military coordination among soldiers, policymakers, and industry.
Addressing the 52nd National Management Convention in New Delhi the Army Chief described ‘Operation Sindoor,’ a recent four-day operation targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, as a model for this coordination. General Dwivedi highlighted that India’s security and economic growth hinge on effective leadership, indigenous innovation, and a unified response to challenges, noting the unpredictable nature of warfare and its psychological impacts. He asserted that land dominance remains crucial in warfare, referencing discussions between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding territorial exchanges in the context of the Ukraine conflict. The Army Chief pointed out that low-cost, high-technology systems can effectively counter superior adversaries, illustrating the relevance of the “David versus Goliath” analogy in modern combat scenarios. General Dwivedi outlined the Indian Army’s commitment to “spiral development” of equipment and organizational structures, supported by significant financial investments in capital and revenue procurement. He mentioned the establishment of new brigades and battalions, such as Rudra, Bhairav, and Shaktiban, which are equipped with indigenous systems. The Army collaborates with prestigious institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru to foster innovation in military technology. Lastly, he clarified India’s strategic positioning, distinguishing between political groupings like the Quad, which includes India, Australia, Japan, and the United States, and military alliances such as AUKUS, a trilateral security partnership involving Australia, the UK, and the US.
