Srinagar: IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi convened a security review meeting at the Police Control Room Kashmir to prepare for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations. The meeting was attended by all range DIGs and SSPs of the Kashmir Zone, focusing on ensuring secure and smooth congregations and processions throughout the Valley.
Key discussions revolved around enhancing security measures, particularly at major religious sites such as the Dargah Hazratbal shrine, where large gatherings and night-long prayers are expected. IGP Birdi emphasized the necessity for heightened vigilance, effective area domination through increased patrolling, and efficient crowd management to avert any potential incidents. He also highlighted the importance of traffic regulation to facilitate the movement of devotees. In light of the current weather forecast, IGP Birdi instructed officers to implement proactive measures to address possible disruptions. This includes conducting safety audits of buildings and ensuring readiness for emergencies related to flash floods, cloudbursts, or waterlogging. He mandated that disaster management teams remain on high alert, equipped with adequate manpower and resources to respond effectively to any emergencies.
