Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Pushes for Swift Completion of New Delhi Station Holding Area

Gorakhpur: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday visited New Delhi station to oversee the construction of a new holding area aimed at improving passenger management during peak times, particularly during festivals.
Railway Minister emphasized the need for the timely completion of this facility. The permanent holding area, located near Ajmeri Gate, is designed to enhance passenger flow and is divided into three functional zones. The Pre Ticketing Area spans 1950 square meters and can accommodate approximately 2,700 passengers during busy periods. The Ticketing Area, covering 2,288 square meters, is capable of handling 3,100 passengers, while the Post Ticketing Area, at 1,570 square meters, can support around 1,350 passengers, ensuring adequate space for queuing, security checks, and luggage scanning. This dedicated holding area will feature several amenities for passengers, including 22 ticket counters, two toilet blocks, a public address system, an electronic display board for information, AI-based surveillance cameras, luggage scanners, and clear signage for guidance. Additionally, it will be integrated with metro connectivity to facilitate easier access. Construction of the holding area is currently underway, facing challenges such as relocating ATM counters, electric high masts, mobile towers, a prepaid taxi stand, and a Delhi Police cabin.
