Jamm: Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Gulam Ali Khatana on Friday visited some of the worst-hit areas of Jammu to personally meet families affected by the recent floods. The unprecedented downpour, which broke a century-old record, has left many localities inundated and hundreds of families displaced.
According to a statement issued here Khatana, toured Upper Barmini, Gurji Khatana Mohalla, Sagar Mohalla, Mattin Bibi Gali near City Hospital, Karyani Talab Narwal, Malik Market, Nalla Bathindi & Barmini, and Government HSS Sujwian Camp where flood-affected families are currently housed.
Khatana expressed profound sympathy for families affected by recent calamities, assuring them of the government’s unwavering support during this challenging time. He emphasized that relief efforts are ongoing and not limited to a single day, with a commitment to assist until normalcy is restored. The situation is being monitored at the highest levels of government, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah actively reviewing developments. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is coordinating relief efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that central agencies and the local administration collaborate effectively to provide timely assistance to those in need. Khatana highlighted that specialized teams from across the country are aiding in rescue and relief operations. These teams are engaged in relocating individuals to safer areas, distributing food and medical supplies, and working to restore mobility in affected neighborhoods. Restoration of essential services such as power, drinking water, and connectivity is a primary focus, with field staff actively engaged in these efforts. Khatana reassured the public that instructions have been issued to expedite the restoration process. He called for calm and cooperation among residents, reiterating that their safety and well-being are the government’s top priorities. Khatana conveyed a message of resilience, stating that while the calamity has tested their strength, collective efforts from the government, local representatives, and community leaders will help them overcome the challenges ahead.
