Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it alongwith Geology & Mining Department seized 13 vehicles (5 Tippers and 8 Tractors) involved in the illegal extraction/transportation of minerals in Handwara.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the said vehicles were illegally involved in transportation of mineral and were seized accordingly. Stating that this proactive approach to curb illegal mining has been actively taken up by Police and Geology & Mining Department, thereby ensuring the individuals involved in such illegal activities are legally prosecuted Police in its statement further said that the seizures highlight the commitment of J&K Police towards acting tough against these violators.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighbourhood and assureed people to take strict action against the violators as per law.
