CS visits Pediatric, Orthopedic health facilities in Srinagar

Srinagar: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Saturday conducted a thorough inspection of two key healthcare institutions in Srinagar: the 500-Bedded Government Children Hospital in Bemina and the Bone & Joint Hospital in Barzulla. Accompanied by senior officials from the Health & Medical Education Department and the Government Medical College Srinagar, he reviewed various facilities and services at both hospitals.
At the Government Children Hospital, Dulloo toured critical areas such as the NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Surgery theatre, engaging with faculty members to assess the advanced medical care provided through 16 newly established pediatric super-specialties. He received updates on the hospital’s operations, patient volume, and diagnostic capabilities, directing the Roads & Buildings Department to expedite the construction of a new Diagnostic Block equipped with CT, MRI, and Digital Radiography facilities. The Chief Secretary praised the hospital’s success in reducing Neonatal and Infant Mortality Rates below the national average and emphasized the need for continued growth and expansion of services. He also expressed approval of the fellowship programs in Pediatric Neonatology and Neurology, along with plans to increase MD seats in General Pediatrics. At the Bone & Joint Hospital, Dulloo inspected the newly inaugurated 160-bedded block, focusing on patient care facilities and the effective use of resources. He highlighted the necessity for the enhanced infrastructure to translate into improved orthopedic care for patients throughout the Kashmir Valley. The Chief Secretary reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the administration’s focus on expanding specialized medical services, upgrading facilities, and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all citizens.
