Awantipora | : Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister for Science and Technology, is all set to inaugurate two advanced facilities—the Innovation Technology Business Incubator (iTBI) and the iFactory—on August 25, 2025, at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Jammu & Kashmir.

The initiatives are supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Heavy Industry, respectively. The event will also feature notable attendees, including Dr. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Shantmanu, additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department in J&K. The newly established labs are designed to promote innovation, support startups, and enhance research and entrepreneurship not only for IUST students and faculty but also for innovators throughout the region. This development is part of IUST’s broader vision to foster a dynamic industry-academia interface and encourage technology-driven entrepreneurship in Jammu & Kashmir. Professor Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice-Chancellor of IUST, emphasized that these facilities are integral to creating a robust ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship. Through initiatives like the CIED-IUST Foundation and various skill development programs, the university aims to empower youth to transform their ideas into scalable businesses, contributing to the national vision of Viksit Bharat and the sustainable growth of the region. The inauguration event will bring together representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Heavy Industries, senior officials from the J&K government, industry leaders, and academic figures, marking a significant advancement in fostering a culture of technology-driven innovation and entrepreneurship in Jammu & Kashmir.
