Srinagar|: Paras Health Srinagar has reached a significant achievement in advanced cardiology by successfully treating a 30-year-old Brazilian national suffering from severe heart failure through a complex Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator (CRT-D) implant.

The procedure, led by Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Rather, Senior Consultant in Interventional Cardiology, effectively restored the patient’s heart function, allowing him to return to Brazil with a notably improved prognosis. Upon admission, the patient exhibited a severely weakened heart, operating at only 10–15% capacity, alongside Left Bundle Branch Block (LBBB) and a prolonged QRS duration of 180 milliseconds, which severely impaired his heart’s ability to pump blood. Diagnostic tests also identified two large left ventricular thrombi, although coronary angiography confirmed the absence of artery blockages. Dr. Rather emphasized the critical nature of timely and appropriate treatment in such high-risk cases, noting that the CRT-D implant significantly improved the patient’s heart rhythm and function, thereby reducing the risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Following intensive anti-heart failure therapy, including the use of apixaban, the thrombi dissolved within four weeks. Due to the ongoing electrical conduction issues and compromised heart function, the medical team proceeded with the CRT-D implantation, which not only restores coordinated heart contractions but also provides life-saving shocks in the event of dangerous arrhythmias. Subsequent follow-ups via WhatsApp indicated that the patient’s heart function improved to 30%, signifying a strong recovery. Paras Health Srinagar is recognized for its advanced cardiac facilities and expertise in managing complex cases, attracting patients from both India and abroad seeking specialized treatment. This case underscores the institution’s capability to deliver cutting-edge technology and timely interventions, reinforcing its status as a leading center for specialized cardiac care.
