Poonch |:  In response to recent heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions in parts of the district, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Shafket Hussain Batt Thursday conducted a joint field visit to assess the situation and review relief measures.

The officials visited flood-prone areas in Surankote and Poonch to assess the impact on infrastructure, agricultural land and residential areas. They interacted with residents, assured them of timely assistance and urged precautionary measures.

DC Sharma said the administration is monitoring the situation closely to ensure public safety and early restoration of normalcy. SSP Batt said police remain on high alert and urged the public to follow advisories.

The DC and SSP also visited the District Hospital Poonch to review healthcare services and emergency preparedness. They interacted with medical staff, inspected facilities and checked availability of medicines and supplies. The DC directed health authorities to remain prepared for any emergencies and commended the hospital staff for their service during the ongoing weather challenges.
