Ganderbal | : The Departments of Communication and Journalism and Information Technology at the Central University of Kashmir conducted a Students Induction Programme focused on health and well-being for newly admitted students.

Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Chalkoo, a prominent laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon, highlighted the critical role of both physical and spiritual health in achieving success. He urged students to maintain a balanced diet, avoid unhealthy fats, and align their lifestyles with their Body Mass Index (BMI), emphasizing that good health is foundational to realizing one’s aspirations. Prof. Chalkoo also addressed the broader implications of health, noting that spiritual well-being is integral to holistic health, particularly for professionals. He discussed the serious health risks associated with obesity, including diabetes and heart disease, as well as its impact on mental health, which can lead to conditions such as depression and anxiety. His presentation included video demonstrations of advanced laparoscopic surgeries, showcasing advancements in medical technology. Additionally, Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, reinforced the idea that health encompasses mental and emotional stability, stating that a healthy mind and body are essential for effective stress management and clear thinking. He encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyle choices, including balanced diets and regular physical activity, to promote long-term well-being.
