This year’s theme, ‘Naya Bharat’Modi Govt’s vision of a developed India by 2047

New Delhi: The Nation will commemorate its 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi presiding over the celebrations at the Red Fort in Delhi. The Prime Minister will unfurl the National Flag and deliver a national address, as announced by the Ministry of Defence.
This year’s theme, ‘Naya Bharat’, reflects the government’s vision of a developed India by 2047, emphasizing the nation’s ongoing progress towards prosperity and security. Upon arrival, the Prime Minister will be welcomed by key officials, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the Defence Secretary. A combined Guard of Honour, comprising personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police, will be presented to the Prime Minister, who will then inspect the contingent. The Indian Air Force is coordinating this year’s celebrations, with specific commanders assigned to each service branch. The National Flag will be hoisted with a 21-Gun Salute, utilizing indigenous 105mm Light Field Guns. The ceremony will feature a National Flag Guard made up of personnel from the armed forces and Delhi Police, and for the first time, Agniveer Vayu musicians will participate in the Air Force band playing the National Anthem. Following the flag hoisting, flower petals will be showered from Mi-17 helicopters, celebrating the success of Operation Sindoor, which will also be highlighted throughout the event. The Prime Minister’s address will conclude with a performance by National Cadet Corps cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers, who will form the ‘Naya Bharat’ logo. Approximately 5,000 special guests, including 1,500 individuals in traditional attire from various states, will attend the celebrations. Additionally, for the first time, patriotic band performances will take place across over 140 locations nationwide, showcasing the contributions of various security forces and promoting national pride.
