J&K gears up to celebrate 79th Independence Day

CM to salute at Bakshi Stadium, ministers to lead in 5 disttts
DDC chairpersons to preside over main functions in 14 distts

Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir is gearing up to celebrate the country’s 79th Independence Day with full enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
Reports said that main Independence Day function in the Union Territory will be held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will preside over and take the salute.
Similar programmes will also be held in Jammu and other district headquarters of J&K, where ministers and chairpersons of District Development Councils will lead the celebrations.
According to details, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary will preside over the main Independence Day function in Jammu, while Sakina Masood (Itoo), Minister for Health, Education, and Social Welfare, will lead the celebrations in Anantnag.
Similarly, Javed Ahmed Rana, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, and Tribal Affairs, is scheduled to lead celebrations in Poonch, while Javid Ahmad Dar, holding portfolios of Agriculture, Rural Development, Cooperatives & Election, will also preside over the main function in Baramulla.
Satish Sharma, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Transport, IT, Youth Services, Sports, and Art & Culture, will lead the celebrations in Kathua.
According to details, chairperson of district development councils will take the salute at main functions in Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Budgam,Shopian,Kulgam, Pulwama, Samba,Udhampur,Reasi,Rajouri, Doda,Ramban and Kishtwar.
As per official itinerary, Sub-Divisional Magistrates will preside over functions at respective sub-divisional headquarters, while Tehsildars or the senior-most civil officers will take salute at respective tehsil, block, and municipal headquarters — as decided by the concerned Deputy Commissioner
