Jammu | : GGM Science College, Jammu, in collaboration with the District Administration, organized a major Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event, held on Friday brought together over 200 students, staff, and parents to raise awareness about the devastating effects of drug addiction.
The campaign was a joint effort, meticulously coordinated by the college’s NCORD Committee with robust support from its NSS and NCC units, the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme, and the Admission Committee. This collective participation showcased a unified commitment to fostering a drug-free society.
The program commenced with a welcome address by college Principal, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, who praised the collaborative spirit and underscored the critical need for continuous sensitization to counter the growing threat of drug abuse. He emphasized the importance of community-driven strategies in this fight. Dr. Bhawana Raina, Medical Officer, detailed the severe psychological and physical consequences of drug addiction. PSI Vikram Singh from PP Canal highlighted the legal repercussions of drug trafficking and possession, including the provisions of the NDPS Act. Shifali Gupta, Senior Lecturer from GHSS Marh Dansal, addressed the educational and social disruptions caused by substance abuse. Monika Jamwal, Teacher at GGHSS Shastri Nagar, shared motivational real-life stories, inspiring students to become proactive ambassadors of change. The talks were followed by a dynamic interactive session where students actively engaged with the speakers, demonstrating impressive awareness and a strong sense of responsibility. The guests commended the students’ enthusiasm, reinforcing the importance of such initiatives in shaping a responsible generation.
