Srinagar |: In alignment with the Government of India’s Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and as a component of the University Outreach Program, Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology (SMMCN & MT), IUST on Thursday organized an awareness campaign focused on Drug de-addiction at SKIMS Soura.

The program, which was coordinated by the faculty of SMMCN & MT and supported by the Hospital Administration at SKIMS, aimed to educate patients, their attendants, and hospital staff regarding the dangers associated with substance abuse, including smoking, alcohol, and drugs. Principal Dr. Asmat Parveen highlighted the significance of the Abhiyan in fostering a drug-free society and underscored the necessity of collective efforts. Students engaged with over 300 individuals throughout the OPDs, providing basic counseling, distributing informational leaflets in both English and Urdu, and showcasing impactful posters featuring messages such as “Say No to Drugs” and “Support the Addict, Not the Addiction.” This initiative sought to enhance awareness, encourage community participation, and stimulate discussions on prevention and recovery, garnering sincere appreciation from the participants.
