Srinagar | : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Sopore Police districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that during an operation launched by the Station House Officer (SHO) at a checkpoint in Lolpora 20 grams of a substance resembling Brown Sugar was recovered from one Ishfaq Ali Lone who was subsequently taken into custody at the local police station. Stating that in a separate incident, a police team at a checkpoint in Maharajpora, Sopore, apprehended one Latif Ahmad Lasso after he attempted to flee upon noticing the police presence Police in its statement further said that during search a polythene bag containing psychotropic tablets was seized following which the accused was arrested and detained at the police station. Police in its statement furthermore said that cases against both individuals under relevant legal sections were registered besides initiating further investigations. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to report any drug-related activities or other criminal offenses to the nearest police station or by calling 112, reiterating therein its commitment to take firm action against offenders in accordance with the law.
