Gen Dwivedi rolls out new digital tribute portal at Kargil
Drass (Ladakh) : To commemorate the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi inaugurated three significant projects in Ladakh that integrate technology with tributes to the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War.
One of the key initiatives is the ‘E-Shradhanjali’ portal, which enables individuals across India to pay virtual tributes to fallen soldiers, enhancing accessibility and inclusivity in remembrance efforts. This digital platform is part of a broader initiative to raise awareness about the sacrifices made by the armed forces. Another notable project is a QR code-based audio storytelling gateway, strategically placed at key battle sites. This initiative allows visitors to listen to first-hand accounts and details of critical battles during the Kargil conflict, including those at high-altitude locations like Tololing and Tiger Hill. This immersive experience is designed to convey the courage and hardships faced by soldiers during the war. The third project, named ‘Indus Viewpoint,’ provides visitors with access to vantage points near the Line of Control in the Batalik sector, a significant battleground during Operation Vijay. Situated at over 10,000 feet, this viewpoint offers civilians a glimpse into the challenging terrains and extreme conditions that soldiers endure. Batalik, once a remote village, has transformed into a symbol of resilience and patriotism, attracting tourists interested in the country’s military history. These initiatives reflect a contemporary approach to honoring war heroes, merging remembrance with education and public engagement.
