Group of Ministers discusses Govt’s stand On Pressing Matters
New Delhi : Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament starting July 21, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level meeting in Delhi. The meeting was also attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the Chiefs of the Tri-Services, who provided updates on the success of “Operation Sindoor” and other measures taken following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in 26 civilian deaths.
Sources said that Rajnath Singh is expected to address “Operation Sindoor” during the upcoming parliamentary session. The ministers gathered feedback from security officials regarding various issues anticipated to arise in the all-party meeting scheduled for Sunday and throughout the Monsoon Session. A subsequent meeting of the Group of Ministers, also led by Singh and Shah, focused on the government’s position on several contentious matters, including the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, the Pahalgam attack, and “Operation Sindoor.” The opposition has been vocal in demanding a parliamentary debate on these issues, particularly regarding “Operation Sindoor” and claims made by US President Donald Trump about mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The government has dismissed Trump’s assertions but faces pressure from the opposition for a special parliamentary session to discuss these topics. “Operation Sindoor” has been characterized by the government as a significant success, having targeted and destroyed nine terrorist camps within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir shortly after the Pahalgam attack. This operation led to increased hostilities between India and Pakistan, which only ceased after a ceasefire request from the Pakistan DGMO.
