Awantipora | : The Department of Architecture at the Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) in Awantipora has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Srinagar Centre. This agreement signifies a pivotal advancement in architectural education and professional collaboration within the region.

The MoU was signed by Prof. A. H. Moon, Dean of Academic Affairs at IUST, and Ar. Irshad Majid, Chairman of IIA Srinagar Centre, in the presence of various university officials and faculty members. The collaboration is structured over a three-year period and aims to enhance academic, professional, and research activities through joint initiatives. Key areas of cooperation include organizing collaborative programs and events, skill development, knowledge sharing, and research focused on heritage conservation, sustainable design, and architectural innovation. Additionally, the partnership will facilitate internships and provide students with real-world exposure through IIA’s professional network. This partnership underscores a mutual commitment to developing future-ready architects and promoting regional discourse in architecture and design. Both institutions aspire to engage students in practical projects, expose them to industry practices, and grant access to advanced research. The MoU exemplifies the increasing synergy between academic institutions and the professional sector, with a shared objective of positively impacting the built environment and community development in Kashmir and beyond.
