Pulwama | :  As part of the ongoing efforts to curb substance abuse under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, district administration Pulwama Monday conducted a series of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) awareness camps across various panchayats in all blocks of the district.

The programmes were aimed at promoting awareness among the general public, especially youth, regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free and healthy society.

During the sessions, resource persons sensitised the participants about the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug addiction. Topics such as early detection, role of families in rehabilitation, and community vigilance were also discussed in detail.

To support the outreach, a variety of IEC materials including posters, brochures, and pamphlets were distributed, containing key messages about prevention strategies, available counselling and rehabilitation services, and important helpline numbers. Participants were also encouraged to act as community ambassadors and spread awareness in their respective areas.

The camps saw active participation from officials of the Health, Education, Social Welfare, Rural Development, and Police Departments. Panchayat representatives, Self Help Groups (SHGs), students, civil society members, and local youth also took part with great enthusiasm.

The campaign will continue in the coming days with similar programmes scheduled in educational institutes, rural and urban areas, ensuring grassroots engagement and community involvement in the fight against drug addiction.
