Traffic diversions implemented along key routes for safety, smooth movement

Srinagar: In anticipation of the 8th Muharram procession scheduled for today on 4th July, Srinagar Traffic Police has announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan to facilitate smooth movement and ensure public safety.
The religious procession, which will originate from Guru Bazar and proceed to Dalgate, is expected to impact traffic along MA Road and nearby routes from 5:00 AM until the procession concludes.
According to the advisory issued by the Srinagar Traffic Department vehicular movement will be restricted from Karan Nagar to Jehangir Chowk via Shaheed Gunj, and from Jehangir Chowk to Dalgate-Badyari stretch throughout the day.
The diversion plan specifies that vehicles coming from Batmaloo, Secretariat, and Rambagh heading towards the MA Road will be diverted via Hari Singh High Street to Residency Road. Similarly, traffic from Rainawari–Nowpora will be rerouted at Mamta Hotel through Barbarshah, Kralkhud, Habba Kadal, and Karan Nagar. Movement from Khanyar to Ikhwan Chowk will follow the same diversion route. Motorists from Nishat and Shalimar are advised to use the Boulevard–Gupkar–Radio Kashmir–Abdullah Bridge route.
For those travelling from Pantha Chowk to Sonwar, the route will be diverted at Radio Kashmir via Residency Road.
Parking arrangements for participants have been designated at SP College Ground, Gindun Park (Rajbagh), and Batmaloo Bus Stand.
SSP Traffic Srinagar, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, said all necessary arrangements are in place and urged the public to cooperate fully. “We request the public to avoid unnecessary travel towards the MA Road and affected areas during the procession hours,” he said.
For real-time traffic updates and assistance, citizens can contact the Traffic Police Control Room at helpline number 103
