Kupwara: The Cyber Cell of District Police Kupwara has made a significant advancement in combating online financial fraud, successfully resolving multiple cases and recovering Rs 11,06,555.82 through court interventions and advanced cyber tactics.
Over recent months, the Cyber Cell received numerous complaints regarding various digital frauds, including online job scams, fake investment schemes, fraudulent KYC requests, deceptive credit SMS alerts, and impersonation frauds, affecting civilians, government employees, and defense personnel alike. Fraudsters utilized a variety of deceptive methods to manipulate victims into transferring money to fraudulent accounts. In response, the Cyber Cell efficiently gathered digital evidence and collaborated with financial institutions and service providers to trace and recover the funds involved in these scams. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant against several online threats, including digital arrest scams, fake trading platforms, fraudulent credit messages, unauthorized mobile applications, and impersonation calls from telecom companies. They encourage individuals to report any suspicious online activities to the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or to file complaints at www.cybercrime.gov.in.
