Bukhari Appeals Centre To Restore Public Confidence, Restore Statehoods Without Any Further Delay

Srinagar : Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, the President Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party here on Tuesday criticized incumbent National Conference Government for not providing effective governance and failing to keep its election promises.
Calling upon the Union government to restore public trust in Jammu and Kashmir and reiterating demand for the restoration of statehood Bukhari while addressing a provincial-level meeting in Jammu highlighted concerns over the current political situation and the party’s local performance, gathering feedback from attendees about various issues affecting the region. Bukhari expressed disappointment with the ruling party’s inability to deliver on key promises, such as providing 300 units of free electricity, and noted that even government officials disregard orders. He urged the government to stop making excuses and start fulfilling its commitments. He also called for urgent local elections, emphasizing the need for citizens to choose their representatives through Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat polls to empower them democratically. Talking to reporters later Bukhari pointed out that the BJP acts like a ruling party, while the National Conference behaves like an opposition. He also mentioned the severe mining crisis in Jammu and Kashmir, where locals have lost their livelihood due to government policies favoring outsiders for mining contracts, leading to skyrocketing prices for residents. He declared that Apni Party will remain vocal about the issues affecting the people due to misgovernance, stating that they had been patient but now felt it was time to demand action.
