  • Security Review Meets Held In Kashmir, Jammu

Srinagar: Srinagar, June 21: In a robust display of security readiness and infrastructural overhaul, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has rolled out its most comprehensive safety plan yet for the upcoming 38-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, beginning July 3 and concluding on August 9, 2025. Declared as a ‘No-Fly Zone’ and fortified with reinforced tracks, granular sub-bases, and gabion safety walls, the pilgrimage is being viewed as both a spiritual journey and a national mission.

No-Fly Zones, Grounded Choppers, Elevated Vigilance: To ensure a zero-compromise security perimeter, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has officially declared all Amarnath Yatra routes—including the Baltal and Pahalgam axes—as ‘No Flying Zones’ from July 1 to August 10, 2025. The order, issued by the J&K Home Department on behalf of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, bans all drones, UAVs, balloons, and aerial platforms except those used for official surveillance, emergency evacuation, or disaster response. The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) confirmed the suspension of helicopter services during this period. Pilgrims will have to rely on traditional methods—on foot, ponies, or palkis—to reach the sacred cave shrine of Baba Barfani. “This decisive measure is in alignment with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ security advisory and is a direct response to heightened security needs post the Pahalgam attack in April. It reinforces our commitment to a safe, serene, and sacred yatra,” the official communication read.

LG Sinha’s Spiritual,Strategic Leadership: On June 16, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha performed the traditional ‘Pratham Puja’ at the cave shrine, officially marking the commencement of the yatra season. In his address, he urged devotees from across India to participate in large numbers, assuring them of unparalleled safety and enhanced facilities. “The Pratham Puja has been completed. I request devotees to come in large numbers to seek Baba Barfani’s blessings. With world-class facilities and a secure environment, this year’s yatra will be both memorable and spiritually fulfilling,” said LG Sinha. Taking to social media, he posted: “Har Har Mahadev! Paid my obeisance to Baba Barfani and performed the ‘Pratham Puja’ at the holy cave, marking the ceremonial beginning of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. May Baba Amarnathji keep showering his divine blessings on all of us.”

On-Ground Readiness: Infra,Inspections: LG Sinha recently became the first SASB Chairman in recent years to reach the holy cave shrine via the Baltal track, one of the two principal yatra routes. His visit included a comprehensive inspection of the Disaster Management Centre, Yatri Niwas Complex, and vulnerable stretches along the track. He commended the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and SASB for their exceptional work in upgrading the route, installing safety hand railings, laying granular sub-base material, and fixing wire mesh to neutralize threats from shooting stones. Gabion and breast walls have been erected at unstable locations, with ILCB tiles placed along slippery patches to improve safety. The alternate route from Chandanwari to Pissutop is also being readied with railings and surfacing to improve foot traffic management and offer safer pilgrim access along the Pahalgam axis.

High-Level Coordination For Seamless Security: Following Operation Sindoor and the renewed focus on internal security, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security preparedness on May 29 at Raj Bhawan, Jammu. He directed that all possible arrangements be made to ensure a safe and seamless pilgrimage. In a follow-up, LG Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level security review meeting on June 13 involving the SASB, J&K Police, Army, and all allied agencies. Emphasizing seamless coordination and real-time responsiveness, he directed for a robust contingency plan, integrated deployment mechanisms, and multi-tiered threat assessment.

DGP Reviews CAPF Induction, Logistics:  Director General J&K Police (J&K DGP) Nalin Prabhat led a critical review session at the Police Control Room in Kashmir. Attended by top brass from CRPF, ITBP, BSF, SSB, SDRF, and J&K Police, the meeting focused on the induction of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), campsite readiness, logistical support, and communication infrastructure. Zonal IGPs presented updates on troop deployments and administrative arrangements. Senior officers affirmed their satisfaction with the preparations and reiterated commitment to inter-agency coordination. The DGP emphasized rapid response capability and ground-level execution.

Public Participation,Civil Society Support: LG Sinha acknowledged the invaluable contributions of civil society and service providers, calling them the “silent guardians” of the Yatra. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir, civil society members, and volunteers are the true soul of this pilgrimage. Their commitment enhances both spiritual depth and operational success,” he said. The administration has taken special steps to ensure inclusive and dignified experiences for all, especially for differently-abled and senior citizens undertaking the arduous journey.

From Faith To Fortitude; A Holistic Yatra Framework: The 2025 Amarnath Yatra is unfolding under a dual framework of spiritual sanctity and strategic planning. From suspension of aerial services to track engineering and community involvement, every layer reflects a commitment to pilgrim welfare and national pride. Under LG Manoj Sinha’s stewardship, the focus has shifted from reactive measures to proactive governance. His leadership embodies a balanced approach—combining devotion with discipline, sentiment with security. “Let no fear deter faith. Let every devotee walk the sacred path in peace, safety, and grace,” the Lieutenant Governor said in a stirring message. As the snow-clad Himalayas prepare to receive the faithful, the spiritual and logistical stage is now set. Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 stands not only as a journey of devotion but also as a reflection of India’s unwavering commitment to peace, preparedness, and the preservation of sacred traditions. This year, Amarnath Yatra will commence on July 3 and will run simultaneously from both the Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and the Baltal route in Ganderbal district, concluding on August 9, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan. Senior police and civil administration officials confirmed that control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar are now fully operational, providing 24×7 monitoring of pilgrim movement and security status along both routes.
