Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Kashmir Showkat Ahmad Mir Wednesday welcomed the announcement of a committee to regularize daily wagers in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming for a roadmap in six months.
The Provincial President Showkat Ahmad Mir welcomed the announcement of a high-powered panel by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, headed by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo with a motive of creating a roadmap to address the issue of regularizing daily wagers, ad hoc workers, and casual laborers across Jammu and Kashmir.
Mir emphasized that PDP-BJP govt and the LG admisnistartion had neglected this humanitarian issue, ignoring the daily struggles of thousands of families associated with these employees. “It is time to prioritize the well-being of these workers and their families, and this panel is a step in the right direction towards achieving that goal,” he said.
Mir said, “Promises made by previous governments and bureaucratic regimes since 2014 have proven to be empty, as no concrete measures have been taken to address the issues faced by these employees. The failure to regularize their positions, ensure fair pay, or guarantee timely salary disbursements highlights a deep-rooted apathy that borders on shamelessness. This neglect is not just an administrative lapse; it is a violation of the basic rights and dignity of these professionals.I commend the action taken by the Omar Abdullah-led government in this regard, and I am hopeful that a policy will be formulated and tabled in the next budget session. It is time for real change and accountability in how these valuable employees are treated.”
