Srinagar : A training program on victim and citizen-centric provisions enshrined in the newly enacted criminal laws was organized today at District Police Lines Handwara. The training aimed at sensitizing law enforcement officers and stakeholders about proactive measures to ensure justice, particularly for women and vulnerable sections of society.
The session was attended by senior police officials, legal experts and investigating officers, The training focused on key amendments and progressive provisions in the new criminal laws, emphasizing the need for a victim-centric approach in policing and judicial procedures.
During the program, experts elaborated on the enhanced safeguards for victims of crimes, particularly women, children, and marginalized communities. Special attention was given to procedural reforms aimed at expediting justice, improving investigation methodologies, and ensuring fair treatment of victims throughout the judicial process.
Speaking on the occasion, Shafeeq Ahmad DySP DAR Handwara underscored the importance of adopting a compassionate and proactive approach in handling cases related to women and vulnerable groups. He highlighted the responsibility of law enforcement agencies in ensuring prompt action, transparency, and victim-friendly mechanisms in criminal justice delivery.
The interactive training included case studies, discussions on legal interpretations, and practical demonstrations on implementing the new provisions effectively. Participants engaged in deliberations on improving coordination among police, judiciary, and social welfare agencies to enhance victim support and rehabilitation.
