Srinagar : President Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has called upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take legal route in Supreme Court for restoratiratio of Statehood without waiting for the Central Government to restore it .He has also called upon political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to join the legal battle for Statehood restoration in the Supreme Court of the country if Chief Minister Omar Abdullah takes up the initiative.
Stating that delay in the Statehood restoration by Central Government leaves Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and all political parties of J&K at liberty to pursue the matter in the top court which has already directed Statehood restoration Hakeem said the Statehood restoration is the right of not only Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his National Conference party but a legal and constitutional right if all people of Jammu and Kashmir endorsed by Supreme Court of the country. Calling upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to initiate the legal course for Statehood restoration in the Supreme Court to live upto his pre-poll commitments Hakeem appealed all political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to join the legal fight for a just cause in the larger public interests.Hakeem further said that delay by the Central Government is giving people sense of hopelessness and Governance has come down to a new low due to existing dual control system and soft peddling by elected Government .He maintained that Statehood is not a favour to J&K people but a right taken away from them without their consent as required under constitution.
