Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kupwara and Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Kupwara, a police party of Police Post Bazaar during routine checking at Galizoo, intercepted two suspects identified as Mohd Ashraf Khan S/o Ghulam Ali Khan R/o Arampora Halmatpora and Irshad Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Ahad Dar R/o Halmatpora and during their personal search, recovered 10 grams of a heroin-like substance from their possession.
Police in its statement further said that in Sopore also, a police team led by SHO Police Station Tarzoo, at a heckpoint established at Tarzoo, intercepted one Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh S/o Ghulam Mohiudin Sheikh R/o Shorgari Mohalla Tarzoo who carrying nylon bag and during search, recovered 7.270 kilograms of contraband cannabis powder like substance from his possession following which all the accused persons were arrested and shifted to respective police stations.
