Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that huge quantity of illicit forest timber was on Tuesday seized by Police in a joint operation with Forest Division Officer in the Keller area of Shopian.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs about a consignment of illegally smuggled forest timber in Keller, a Police team of Police Station Keller headed by SHO Police Station Keller along with DFO Shopian raided the residence of Manzoor Ahmad Khanday S/o Gh Ahmad Khanday R/o Chowan Keller and during search, joint team recovered 40 fts of forest timber. Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law was registered atPolice Station Keller besides initiating further investigations.
