Shopian: A meeting on efficient verification of beneficiaries of Public Distribution System (PDS) was on Tuesday held at Mini Secretariat Shopian under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar.
The verification process for availing the benefits under the National Food Security Act shall be undertaken across the district by multiple teams of officers and officials.
Village level teams of frontline workers of different departments including Revenue, FCS&CA and RDD have been constituted to verify the antecedents of ration card holders in the district, the officer of the concerned department intimidated.
A total 61000 ration card holders are to be verified in the district for ascertaining their economic status afresh and their eligibility thereof under the scheme.

The DC tasked the officers associated with the process to monitor time bound verification of the teams and to ensure that the whole exercise is done with impartiality and integrity.
Shahid called for conducting massive door to door visits by the teams to take on spot appraisal of the verification process.
The meeting was attended by ACD, AD FCS&CA, Tehsildars, BDOs, TSOs and other officers.
