Srinagar : J&K Bank organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Programme at its Corporate Headquarters, emphasizing the theme “Know More, Fear Less, Act Early.”

Speaking on the occasion Executive Director Sudhir Gupta highlighted the need for open conversations regarding cancer, encouraging a supportive culture within the bank where employees feel comfortable addressing health concerns. General Manager Aneeta Nehru stressed the necessity of prioritizing health and timely medical consultations to improve treatment outcomes. Renowned Surgical Oncologist Dr. Shabnam Bashir discussed the significance of early diagnosis, noting that many cancers are treatable when detected early, yet a significant percentage of cases are diagnosed at advanced stages. She urged the importance of recognizing warning signs and seeking prompt medical advice, while also addressing the impact of lifestyle choices on cancer risk. Dr. Henana Berjes, a pain management specialist, emphasized the role of caregivers in providing emotional support alongside physical care for breast cancer patients. Onconutritionist Dr. Umi Laila discussed the critical role of nutrition in the treatment and recovery process, advocating for tailored dietary choices for patients. The program included personal testimonies from two cancer survivors, enhancing the discussion with real-life experiences. An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage directly with the experts. The event concluded with General Manager Hafeeza Rahim expressing gratitude to all involved and encouraging the dissemination of awareness and care within the community.
