Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Post Mirgund headed by Incharge Police Post Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Parihaspora-Diwer Crossing Pattan, intercepted one Syed Akhter Shah S/o Syed Mustafa Shah R/o Diwer Pattan and during search, 5.95 grams of contraband Heroin-like substances was recovered from his possession, adding therein that the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pattan besides initiating an investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement urged people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
