4 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar, Contraband, Psychotropic substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and also recovered contraband & psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Kralkhud intercepted a vehicle (Etios) bearing registration no JK01AH-5637 at a checkpoint established at Kralkhud Chowk , adding therein that two suspects onboard were arrested and identified as Nadeem Shafi Kashani S/o Mohd Shafi Kashani R/o Sathoo Payeen Barbarshah and Ashiq Ahmed Hundoo S/o Late Gh Rasool Handoo R/o Abi-Karpora Dalgate A/p Hamdania Coloney Bemina. Stating that during search, four grams of Heroin was recovered from the possession of the said accused and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized, Police in its statement further said that in a similar action a Police party of Police Station Safakadal arrested two drug peddlers identified as Nabeel Showkat Zargar S/o Showkat Aziz Zargar R/o Safakadal Haftayarbal and Shahriyar Ahmad Mir S/o Mir Ishfaq Ahmad R/o Rathpora Eidgah at a checkpoint established within their jurisdiction . Police in its statement further said that during search, 11 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 30 strips of Tapentidol (banned drugs) were recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that the police later accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated investigations into the case. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment to make all efforts to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
