Srinagar : Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Monday impressed upon the Central Government particularly the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest adding that the people want full statehood in its pristine condition as it stood before August5, 2019.
In a statement issued here Hakeem said that restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is the solemn commitment made by both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and as well as Home Minister Amit Shah and has also been assured by the Supreme Court .He said people of Jammu and Kashmir have reflected their urge for restoration of the full statehood through their massive participation in 2014 assembly elections adding that the center should honour their mandate in un- ambiguous terms.
Hakeem said people of Jammu and Kashmir have full faith in the high democratic and secular credentials of the country and hope their socio- political aspirations would be respected by the central leadership in god faith. He said demand for restoration of statehood was not fiefdom of any particular political group but a general public yearning which has been upheld even by the SC. PDF Chairman has also sought constitutional guarantees over the rights of people on land and jobs adding that Jammu and Kashmir has right on its own resources.
