1. PM Modi Highlights Constitution’s Role in Nation’s Future, Pays Tribute To 26/11 Victims: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the Constitution Day celebrations in the Supreme Court, described India’s Constitution as a “vibrant, constantly flowing stream” that guides the nation’s present and future. He emphasized the government’s focus on ensuring the ease of living for citizens in alignment with the Constitution’s spirit. On the anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai militant attacks, PM Modi reaffirmed that any militant organizations threatening India’s security will face a strong response.
2. Prez Murmu Pays Tribute To 26/11 Martyrs, Reiterates India’s Stand On Militancy: President Droupadi Murmu, on the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai militant attacks, paid tribute to the brave martyrs and expressed solidarity with their families. In a post on X, she reiterated India’s unwavering commitment to combating militancy in all its forms and saluted the sacrifices of security personnel in safeguarding the nation.
3. JKRTC Faces Major Losses Due To Ongoing Ban on Buses in Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) is facing daily losses of approximately ₹2.5 lakh due to a ban on its buses entering Srinagar since early November. Initially imposed to manage traffic during the assembly session, the ban remains in effect, causing financial strain and inconvenience for commuters. Officials expressed concerns over the continuing restrictions, which were expected to be temporary.
4. Centre Plans To Boost Tourism In J&K And Ladakh With New Trekking Routes: The Government of India (GoI) is focusing on promoting off-beat tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh, with new trekking routes and lesser-known tourist spots. Key initiatives include the establishment of India’s first Dark Sky Reserve in Ladakh, aimed at attracting astro-tourism enthusiasts. The efforts aim to diversify tourism offerings and enhance the region’s appeal.
5. Over ₹15 Crore Allocated for Expanding Forest Cover in J&K: The Government of India has allocated over ₹15 crore to Jammu and Kashmir for expanding forest and tree cover. Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh informed Parliament that J&K has 21,387 square kilometers of forest cover and 2,867 square kilometers of tree cover. J&K Receives ₹5,835 Crore For Power Infra Modernization: The Union Minister for Power and Housing, Manohar Lal, revealed that Jammu and Kashmir has received ₹5,835 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) for power infrastructure modernization. Central University of Kashmir’s Winter Break From Dec, 23 To February 7: The Central University of Kashmir has announced winter vacation for its faculty and students from December 23, 2024, to February 7, 2025. The last working day for all academic programs will be December 20, 2024, with classes resuming on February 10, 2025. Departments wishing to continue academic activities during the break are required to submit proposals in advance.
