2 Drug Peddlers Arrested In Srinagar, Contraband Substances Also Recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that during naka checking at 90 Feet Road near Matoo Steel, two vehicles (Scooty) bearing registration No JK01AN-6945 and (Zen) bearing registration No. JK01H-5675 driven by one Shabir Ahmed Mir S/O Gh. Qadir R/o Bilal Colony Soura were intercepted the time they were moving from Awantabawan to Elahibagh, adding therein that during search of vehicle (Zen Car), 10 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from the driver of said car. Stating that later during search the Scooty rider carrying 6 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession, Police in its statement further said that the accused rider was identified as Shah Murtaza Iqbal S/o Mohd Iqbal Shah R/o Bilal Colony Soura, adding therein that both the accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Police in its statement also said that vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
Police in its statement furthermore said that during further questioning, it came to fore that both the accused individuals are chronic drug peddlers and are actively involved in selling of illegal drugs among the youth of District Srinagar especially among the youth of Soura area.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 90/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Soura besides initiating further investigation , Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
