Srinagar: Below is the timeline of weeklong public events and engagements of top public dignitaries witnessed this week:-
1. Shah’s Criticises Regional Parties For Creating Fear In J&K: Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the National Conference, Congress, and PDP of fostering fear and militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that since 1947, soldiers from the region have defended India, and it was the Pahadi, Gurjar, and Bakarwal communities who faced the brunt of militancy since the 1990s, a situation he attributed to Farooq Abdullah.
2. Congress Pushes For Statehood Restoration: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the party’s priority is to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He questioned the BJP’s delay in granting statehood, noting that the region has never transitioned to a Union Territory before, emphasizing that they possess the power to enact this change.
3. Apni Party Leader Endorses Omar Abdullah: In a strategic political move, Muntazir Mohiudin of the Apni Party has withdrawn his nomination from the Budgam constituency, endorsing Omar Abdullah of the National Conference. Tragic BSF Bus Accident In Budgam: A tragic accident in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district claimed the lives of three Border Security Force personnel and injured 31 others when a bus carrying 34 BSF members for election duty fell into a gorge. The injured were taken to SKIMS and BSF Hospital Humahama for treatment.
