Jammu : The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) organized a significant rally in Kangan on Saturday, mounting a bold challenge to the National Conference (NC), which has held the Ganderbal assembly seat for over six decades.
Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, accompanied PDP candidate Syed Jammat Ali Shaheen in a roadshow that stretched from Lar to Gangengeer. The event drew a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters, highlighting the PDP’s growing influence in the region.
Addressing the media, Iltija Mufti urged voters to support the PDP for the progress and development of Ganderbal district and Jammu & Kashmir. She emphasized her commitment to advocating for the people, particularly after the abrogation of Article 370, while taking aim at NC leader Omar Abdullah, questioning his record in the constituency.
While campaigning for Jammat Ali Shaheen, Iltija Mufti also reflected on the developmental strides made during her father’s tenure as Chief Minister. She criticized the National Conference for its unfulfilled promises, which she said had left the region in difficult circumstances.
“Change will come from Ganderbal, just as it did in 2002,” she asserted, expressing confidence in the PDP’s potential to lead the region into a new era of development.
The rally, led by Shaheen, Iltija Mufti, and senior party leader Bashir Mir, passed through several villages, with supporters waving PDP flags and chanting slogans in favor of their candidate. The event further solidified the PDP’s momentum ahead of the upcoming elections.
