Srinagar : Ahead of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi carried out a holistic review of the security situation in the union territory, officials said.
Gen Dwivedi assured the J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha that the Indian Army is firmly committed towards maintenance of peace and harmony in the state. Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI)in a post on X said General Dwivedi visited Srinagar and interacted with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and discussed the current security landscape in the state.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), also carried out a holistic review of the security situation in the state in view of the upcoming elections. As part of the discussions, he interacted with the outgoing & incumbent Director General of Police, RR Swain & Nalin Prabhat respectively, the Army said.
The COAS also reviewed the operational preparedness of the formations by interacting with the General Officer Commanding of Udhampur based Northern Command, GoCs of Srinagar based Chinar Corps, Nagrota based White Knight Corps and Himachal Pradesh based Rising Star Corps.
