Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra stated that his party is open to a pre-poll alliance with parties opposing the BJP’s policies.
Karra accused the BJP of damaging the communal fabric of Jammu and Kashmir due to its policies and said the Congress will continue efforts to strengthen Hindu-Muslim-Sikh unity.
Karra was appointed J&K Pradesh Congress Committee chief on August 16, after the Election Commission announced assembly elections in the UT on September 18, 25, and October 1, with counting of votes on October 4.
Karra said the Congress stands with its resolution adopted by the Congress Working Committee on the abrogation of Article 370. He stated there is a positive factor prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir after Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Karra attacked the BJP, saying they have disturbed communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. He thanked the Congress leadership for appointing him and said the party will never indulge in politics based on religion.
Karra accused the BJP of exploiting the people of Jammu region and failing on development and employment fronts. AICC general secretary G A Mir congratulated Karra on assuming the charge of PCC president and said the Congress is in talks with like-minded parties for a pre-poll alliance in Jammu and Kashmir.
