Ganderbal: As part of the SwachhtaPakhwada initiative, the Sakhi One Stop Centre, Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Department of Education Ganderbal and supported by the District Administration, District Information Centre Ganderbal, District Social Welfare Office Ganderbal conducted a comprehensive cleanliness, awareness and plantation drive at WayilGanderbal.
The event aimed to promote sanitation and environmental awareness among students and the broader community.
Children from eight schools, along with students from Parisha and Palash, actively participated in the drive.
The event kicked-off with a painting competition designed to raise awareness about the environment and encourage children’s creativity.
The theme focused on the importance of a clean environment, and the competition showcased the children’s creativity through thought-provoking paintings that highlighted the adverse effects of pollution and the need for a clean environment.
This event was held at the office premises of the She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneurs, providing a platform for young minds to express their concerns and solutions for environmental issues.
In addition to the painting competition, a plantation drive was held in the grounds of Ahat-e-Waqar (Senior Citizen Home), Ganderbal. Numerous plants were planted, contributing to the beautification and greening of the area.
This initiative not only aimed at enhancing the local environment but also at instilling a sense of responsibility and care for nature among the participants.
Moreover, children, under the guidance of One Stop Centre staff, participated in a cleanliness drive in the Sendbal area. This hands-on activity allowed the students to directly contribute to the cleanliness of their surroundings, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The Zonal Education Officer, Ganderbal encouraged students to actively participate in such events. He further urged students to seize every opportunity to hone their talents and contribute to environmental sustainability.
The event was a significant step towards fostering environmental consciousness and promoting a cleaner, greener future.
It highlighted the collaborative efforts of various organizations and the active participation of young students in making a positive impact on their community.
The winners were felicitated towards the end of the event. In the General category, Muntazir from Boys Higher Secondary School Gutlibgh secured the first prize. In the Special category, Marifat from Parisha took the top spot, while MaroofaQuyoom from Government High School won first place in the Consolation category.
All participants were honored at the end of the event, with each one receiving a medal.
A Tiranga rally was conducted during the cleaning drive, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean environment.

Anantnag: The Swachhta Pakhwada campaign continues to gain traction in Anantnag district, with a range of activities organized on Monday highlighting the collective efforts of government departments, educational institutions, and communities towards achieving a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Swachhta Pakhwada is a two-week initiative aimed at fostering a sense of cleanliness and environmental responsibility among citizens. The campaign seeks to create lasting change through awareness and active participation in cleanliness drives and sustainable practices.
Today, various departments contributed to the campaign’s goals with Forest Range Kokernag collecting an impressive 50 Kg of plastic waste during their Anti-polythene drive, showcasing their commitment to reducing environmental pollution.
The School Education Department mobilized students, staff, and community volunteers to clean adopted water bodies, public parks, and heritage sites. The Department of Youth Services & Sports organized sports and cleanliness activities, promoting physical well-being and civic consciousness.
The Swachhta Pakhwada campaign has garnered widespread support, with participation from rural and urban areas, educational institutions, panchayats, municipalities, and government departments. Swachhata Pakhwada: Cleanliness & Sanitation activities held at G’bal
Ganderbal: As part of SwachhataPakhwada – SuchitaSangram 2024 initiative, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Ganderbal is actively conducting a series of cleanliness drives, plantation efforts, and other sanitation activities throughout the district.
As part of this ongoing campaign, the Kangan Zone organized a significant cleanliness drive at the main market in Kangan, as well as around the premises of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kangan.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the entire staff and student body of GHSS Kangan, who diligently worked to clean every part of their school and its surroundings.
Similarly, Government High School (GHS) Shallabugh, under the Ganderbal Zone, carried out an inspection of hand-washing facilities, water supply and sanitation.
Every student at the school took part in these efforts. Such initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to environmental conservation while ensuring cleaner and healthier surroundings.
Swachhta Pakhwada: Plantation drive organized at Ang
Anantnag: The Directorate of Ayush Kashmir, in partnership with the J&K Biodiversity Council and the J&K Forest Research Institute, on Monday organized a series of plantation drives across various locations in Anantnag as part of the SwachhtaPakhwada initiative.
Plantation drives were held at the Ayush Health and Wellness Centres in Utroorsu, Cheerpora (Shangus), and Ranipora, Anantnag, bringing together officials, staff, and local residents to plant saplings and promote environmental conservation.
This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and sanitation, while fostering a sense of community engagement towards creating a cleaner, greener and healthier environment.
Notably, the Swacchta Pakhwada is into its second week in Anantnag and so far the enthusiasm and participation from people and government departments has been high.
‘Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam’: Plantation Drives held across B’pora
Bandipora: In a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices of national martyrs, the municipalities across Bandipora district conducted a series of plantation drives under the theme ‘EkPedShaheedonKeNaam.’
This initiative aimed to bolster green cover and advance environmental sustainability throughout the district. The plantation drives were conducted in Sumbal, Bandipora, and Hajin, with more than 250 trees, including willow, pine, and Cyprus, being planted.
Municipal Committee (MC) Sumbal conducted planatation drive at the solid waste management facility while as MC Hajin conducted plantation drive near the Tehsil office, Higher Secondary School, and Government Girls School and MC Bandipora conducted plantation drives at Ward 06-DC office road and Kaloosa.
Executive Officer Ajaz Ahmad, who oversees all three municipalities, emphasized that the primary objective of these drives was to honor the nation’s heroes. The planted trees will serve as a living reminder of their valor and sacrifice, while also contributing to the enhancement of the district’s green spaces.
In addition to the plantation drives, MC Bandipora also organized a Tiranga Rally as part of the HarGharTiranga campaign.
Swachhata Pakhwada: Cleanliness, Plantation drive held at Sonmarg
Ganderbal: As part of Swachhata Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) campaign, Sonmarg Development Authority on Monday organised a cleanliness cum plantation drive at Sonmarg.
The drive was organised under supervision of Gulzar Ahmad Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and CEO of the Sonamarg Development Authority.
The day long event witnessed participation from various departments, including Jal Shakti, Rural Development Wildlife deptt and police besides NGOs and locals reflecting a unified effort to address cleanliness and hygiene issues at world famous tourist destination Sonmarg.
The event featured a significant plantation drive, a gesture that added a green dimension to the cleanliness efforts. This drive included the planting of trees dedicated to the memory of fallen heros of our mother land.
The collective efforts of all involved highlighted the importance of cleanliness and hygiene and served as a reminder of the role of each individual in maintaining the gold like shine of Sonmarg and the environmental conservation.

Swachhta Pakhwada: Distt Admin Udhampur organises wall painting at Gole Market
Udhampur: District Administration Udhampur organised a Wall Painting activity under the ongoingSwachhtaPakhwada campaign at Gole market Udhampur.
The event was held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner SaloniRai and the guidance of Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia.
The activity attracted participants from various schools of the district, who used the walls of Gole market as their canvas to showcase their creativity. The artworks focused on diverse themes viz. Cleanliness, patriotism, hygiene and community responsibility, were reflection of the participants’ commitment to the SwachhtaPakhwada campaign.
MVD conducts tree plantation drive under Swachhta Pakhwada
Jammu : Transport Commissioner, S. Rajinder Singh Tara on Mondayspreadhead a plantation drive held in the Regional Transport Office premises. The drive was organised by Regional Transport Officer Jammu, PankajBhagotra as a part of ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada campaign.
This event was a part of a broader effort to promote cleanliness, environmental sustainability and community involvement. SwachhtaPakhwara, a fortnight long campaign is being observed throughout India from 01-08-2024 to 14-08-2024 which is dedicated to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and environmental conservation.
As part of this initiative MVD took a significant step towards greening the environment by planting trees with active participation from Officers and officials/staff members. During the drive, various saplings of Rudraksh, Neem, Gulmohar etc. were planted within the RTO office premises by the Transport Commissioner, the Joint Transport Commissioner and the staff of RTO Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Transport Commissioner said, “Swachhta Pakhwada is not just about cleanliness; it’s about fostering a culture of responsibility towards our environment. Through initiatives like the tree plantation drive, we aim to contribute to a healthier and greener planet. We are proud to see the overwhelming support from the community and our team.”
The Transport Commissioner stressed upon the Regional Transport Officer Jammu to replicate such plantation drives in ARTO offices of all the districts. He highlighted the crucial role of trees in supporting human life and the need for their conservation.
