Let us look upon history with a sense of glimmer and hope, more than 249yrs back, today a native Bengali born Maharaja known by his identified name Nanadakumar, was tragically executed by British. What is so surprising about this legend Maharaja? Is that he was the first Indian to be ever hanged to death by using the gallows. The history of India is a pre-judgmental notion and identity that requires varied aspects and legends along with forgotten struggles. Maharaja Nandakumar was India’s first martyr even though historians do differ in their own views. The supreme court of establishment at Calcutta became the notorious epicenter of British incessant vicious dark deeds.

“As proud Indians, we the future generation should never forget the scenes of history that provides a glimpse into the world and cycle of atrocities meted out to the forefathers of India.”

In the late 18th century, the British under the command of Warren Hastings set up one of modern India first court of law, making the city of Calcutta the major high fortress of impunity. And anyone who dare to challenge the British raj was effectively seen, tried and convicted by whites. The English governance makes a clear distinction between the racially superior by the theory of “White man’s burden”, which they justify to deliver out the most in discriminatory injustices to Natives known in history. These laws ruled out the colonial blend of approach to the Indians. Maharaja Nandakumar is not just the victim and person, there are so many unheard lives that is still behind the darkness and mystery of British rule. As proud Indians, we the future generation should never forget the scenes of history that provides a glimpse into the world and cycle of atrocities meted out to the forefathers of India.
