Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Political Affairs Committee (PAC) met here on Sunday and discussed the preparedness for the upcoming Assembly elections and possibility of an alliance with the like minded parties.
The PAC headed by the senior Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra told media persons that discussions were held for the possible alliance in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
“The mood of the alliance which was there and on that basis the Parliamentary elections were held”, Karra said and added “the discussions were held whether there is a need for the alliance or not during the forthcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir”.
Karra said that today’s meeting was a working meeting and all the participants put their points of view in a very good atmosphere. He said a line of action has been drawn for the future policy of the party.
Reacting to the security situation of the Jammu division where militant attacks have increased for the past some time, Karra said “This is the failure of the tall claims of the present dispensation”.
“… for the past ten years, the government says that Jammu and Kashmir has been cleared of militancy and the situation has been set right…it is the failure of the present government and their tall claims”, he said.
He said Congress wanted peace to prevail in Jammu and Kashmir. “But the way of jingoism they (administration) is playing will trap them in the failures”, the congress leader added.
