New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasised that all states and the Centre should work together in order to achieve the vision of the developed nation (Viksit Bharat) by 2047.
Chairing the ninth Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, he said India has achieved steady growth in the past 10 years.
“The Indian economy, which was ranked 10th largest economy in the world in 2014, has risen to become the fifth largest economy by 2024,” he said.
Highlighting the reforms undertaken in last 10 years under his leadership, the Prime Minister said from being a predominantly import-driven country, India now exports many products to the world.
“The country has made its mark on the world stage in wide ranging sectors like defence, space, start-ups and sports,” he added.
During the meeting, Modi also encouraged the states to utilise these opportunities and make policies that are conducive for development through innovative approaches.
He observed that the vision of Viksit Bharat can be realised through Viksit States, and that the aspiration of Viksit Bharat should reach the grassroots level.
He encouraged States to provide an investor-friendly environment.
Modi also directed NITI Aayog to prepare an ‘Investment-friendly Charter’ of parameters, which would include policies, programmes and processes to be put in place for attracting investments.
The meeting was attended by all the 20 States and six UTs, including Chief Ministers and Lt Governors of various UTs.
This year’s theme was ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’, with a central focus on making India a developed nation.
The ninth Governing Council Meeting aims to create a roadmap for this vision, fostering teamwork between the Centre and the States as ‘Team India’.
