Srinagar: Below is the timeline of weeklong public event held within and outside J&K:-
1. LoC Security Reviewed: Army Chief Reviews LoC Security Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Jammu to review the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC). This marked his first visit to the region since assuming office as the 30th Chief of the Indian Army on June 30.
2. PM Surya Ghar ‘MuftBijliYojana’ Launched: Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) initiated the PM Surya Ghar ‘MuftBijliYojana’, aiming to install subsidized solar rooftop systems in 36,400 households across Kashmir Division by March 31, 2027.
3. Proposal For Skill University Under Consideration: The Jammu and Kashmir Government is exploring the establishment of a skill university in the UT, with guidance from Vishwakarma University Haryana. Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a meeting to discuss this initiative.
4. LG Manoj Sinha On Urban Planning : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reiterated the UT administration’s commitment to sustainable urban development at the High-Level Committee on Urban Planning in Srinagar, emphasizing economic growth and citizen welfare.
5. Record High Temperature In Srinagar: Srinagar recorded its hottest day in 25 years at 35.6°C. The Meteorological Department forecasts light to moderate rainfall across Kashmir and Jammu divisions in the next 24 hours.
6. BSF Reviews Amarnath Yatra Security: Inspector General Ashok Yadav of BSF Kashmir Frontier inspected security measures along the Pahalgam axis for the Amarnath Yatra, ensuring readiness and coordination for the pilgrimage’s safety.
7. Preparations For Muharram Reviewed: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a meeting to review arrangements for Muharram at Civil Secretariat, attended by top officials to ensure smooth observance of the occasion.
8. Incident Near Nachlana, Banihal: Seven individuals, including langar organizers and tourists, were injured after jumping from a bus near Nachlana due to brake failure. The incident occurred during the return of pilgrims from the ShriAmarnathji Yatra.
9. Demand For J&K Statehood Restoration: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari urged the central government to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood before conducting assembly elections, emphasizing the need for pre-August 5, 2019, status.
10. Tansit Accommodations : Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo chaired a meeting to take stock of the physical status of transit accommodations being constructed for PM package employees from migrant Kashmiri Pandit community across different districts of the valley.
