Srinagar : Srinagar has been best example of urban renewal, said Keshav Verma, Chairman of High-Level Committee (HLC) on Urban Planning on Friday and added that they are preparing the final recommendation report in unison with Jammu and Kashmir administration with regard to augmentation of developmental scenario in the Union Territory.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the two-day convocation here at SKICC, Keshav Verma said they talk with the States, the challenges they face and the status of urbanization following which a final report is being framed in unison with them to come up with their recommendations.
“We are here to finalize the recommendations. We have already forwarded one of the recommendations and this time, we are preparing final recommendations so that the developmental projects will be taken up,” he said.
Moreover, he said good work is being done in Srinagar, which is the best example of urban renewal. “Srinagar is the best example of how public friendly urban renewal can be ensured. How pedestrianization and other things can go side by side,” he said.
He further added that it has also led to the economic development here where thousands of people are visiting. “It has turned possible only due to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hard work by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The preparations that were done earlier were ensured on the ground only after Manoj Sinha took over as LG here. “Srinagar is the best model and we talk about it in the rest of the country,” Verma said.
