DLSA Kupwara Holds Awareness Prog Under Poverty Alleviation Schemes At Handwara

Kupwara: An awareness programme on NALSA (Effective Implementation of Poverty Alleviation Schemes) Scheme–2015, as per the JK LSA Action Plan-2024 was held on Monday at Town Hall Handwara.
The programme was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara in collaboration with Block Development Office, Handwara, under the aegis of JK Legal Services Authority.
The programme was carried under the supervision of Chairperson, DLSA (Pr. District & Session Judge) Kupwara, Shazia Tabasum and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA/ Sub-Judge, Kupwara, Manzoor Ahmad Khan.
The purpose of the programme was targeted to spread awareness and information about basic rights and benefits afforded to socially and economically weaker sections under poverty alleviation scheme-2015 and strengthen the community’s access to the various legal aid schemes being implemented by the Legal aid institutions and other government departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Imran Mir gave an elaborative speech on NALSA Effective Implementation of Poverty Alleviation Schemes) Scheme–2015, and the objectives of the said Scheme. He also disseminated information about various Government Welfare Schemes to the gathering.
He said poverty alleviation schemes aim to reduce the rate of poverty in the country by providing proper access to food, monetary help, and basic essentials to households and families belonging to below the poverty line threshold.
PLV Mohd Rafi gave a brief on the necessity of having legal literacy and legal awareness amongst the people, and in particular amongst the weaker sections of the society about the rights, benefits and privileges guaranteed by social welfare legislations and other enactments as well as administrative measures. He said that poverty can be eradicated only when the poor start contributing to growth by their active involvement in the growth process.
The programme was attended by Staff Members of BDO Handwara, Municipal Staff, Civil Society Members and Para legal Volunteers of DLSA Kupwara.
