Udhampur : In preparation for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2024, the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, conducted an inspection of the National Highway at Jakhani. The inspection aimed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic from Tikri to Chenani during the yatra.
Accompanying the Deputy Commissioner were Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia, ARTO Jugal Sharma and other officers.
During the tour, the DC emphasized the importance of measures being taken by the executing agencies to maintain smooth traffic movement on the National Highway, especially in anticipation of the Amarnath Yatra 2024. She directed the Project Director NHAI to complete ongoing works and ensure the beautification of all chowks by June 29, 2024.
The DC instructed the concerned agencies to station adequate manpower and machinery at all vulnerable sliding zones to address emergencies promptly and regulate traffic efficiently. Traffic police were also directed to maintain smooth vehicular movement by providing safe passage to vehicles and implementing road safety measures.
