Srinagar: A tragic road accident in Pazalpora area Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has left the entire village in shock and mourning as three persons lost their lives and injured 20 others on Thursday.
An official said that preliminary investigation suggests that the vehicle, travelling from Hamam village, crashed due to brake failure. The incident left three persons dead and also injured 20 others.
“The injured are being treated at GMC Baramulla and are responding well to the treatment,” the official said, adding that five among 20 injured persons have been discharged following necessary treatment.
The official identified the deceased as Bashir Ahmed Seer of Doniwari, Abdul Rashid Khan of Markoot and Noor Mohammed Khan of Hamam village — all the residents of Rafiabad in Dangiwacha jurisdiction.
Similarly, the injured have been identified as Mohammed Rustum Najar of Pazalpora, Mohammed Talib and Farooq Ahmed of Markoot, Azi Begum, Shabnum Begum, Naseema Begum and Mir Mohammed Gojjar of Doniwari. Nasir Ahmed, Toiab Ahmed, Gulshana Begum, Mohammed Ashraf Mir, Nazima, Shameema, Mohammed Qasim and Naqshi Begum—all the residents of Pazalpora.
Meanwhile, it has come to the fore that the vehicle had expired fitness and registration documents, among other regulatory issues.
The accident sparked a public outcry, with the residents demanding strict enforcement of vehicle inspections and compliance with documentation. “There is a need for rigorous checks and safety measures,” Mansoor Ahmed, a Pazalpora resident, said.
“Will investigate the matter besides necessary action will be taken to prevent such kind of accidents in future,” official said
