Light rains end sweltering heat in Kashmir, MeT predicts more rains till June 08

Srinagar: The persistent dry spell for the last couple of weeks has come to an end as the light and intermittent rainfall has been recorded since last evening, bringing a relief from the scorching heat in Kashmir.
There is a forecast of more rains in the next three days as the weatherman has predicted that the light rains would continue to occur till June 08.
Reports said maximum temperature in Srinagar and elsewhere has plummeted today as the weather conditions have witnessed a shift since last evening.
Although there was occasional sunshine in the afternoon, the intermittent rainfall continued to occur since morning, bringing down the mercury some degrees across all the Kashmir stations, thereby giving a relief to the people from scorching heat.
According to the details shared by MeT, Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K recorded a maximum temperature of 22.3 degree Celsius while in Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir, it settled at 22.5 degree Celsius.
As per the data, Pahalgam and Kokernag recorded a maximum temperature of 19.6 degree Celsius and 20.8 degree Celsius respectively while in Kupwara and Gulmarg, it settled at 15.6 degree Celsius and 11.2 degree Celsius respectively.
Some of the areas in Jammu including Banihal, Bhaderwah also recorded a slight fall in the maximum temperature.
Meanwhile, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that there is a possibility of rain and thundershower with moderate to intense showers at few places for brief period with thunder, lightning accompanied by gusty winds till tomorrow.
He further added that light rains and thunder at few places is possible on June 07 and 08, adding that partly cloudy with generally dry weather is expected from June 09-June 15.
In its advisory, the MeT said that the farmers are advised to suspend far operations tomorrow, adding that there is possibility of thunder, lightning and gusty winds at scattered places
