Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges flags-off Cycle Rally under SVEEP to raise voter awareness

Srinagar: As part of its ongoing efforts to promote electoral participation, the Amar Singh College Srinagar on Wednesday organized an inter-college Cycle rally under SVEEP initiative to create awareness about the upcoming elections in the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.
The cycle rally was conducted under the patronage of the District Election Officer Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din.
The Cycle Rally was flagged-off by Prof. (Dr) Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Nodal principal of Kashmir Division Colleges and Principal of Amar Singh College, who also played a significant role in organizing the rally.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Ajaz emphasized that the purpose of the Cycle rally was to ensure that every eligible voter is equipped with the awareness, Knowledge, and motivation to exercise their right to vote and play an important role in shaping the democratic process. He also pointed out that the initiative is taken up with goodwill to improve the voter turnout in district Srinagar.
The principal reiterated that ‘it is our responsibility and fundamental duty to participate enthusiastically in upcoming elections’.
The students from 12 Colleges of district Srinagar participated in the event. Each college registered 2 boys and 2 girls from their institute to participate in the cycle rally.
The rally took off from Nehru Park in the wee hours of 7th May and culminated at Nishat Garden; covering a distance of about 8 km along the scenic Dal Lake.
Through this Cycle Rally, the students from different colleges of Srinagar made efforts to create awareness and motivate the general public, especially first-time voters to actively participate in the democratic process. The event witnessed a massive footfall and garnered a keen interest in the public for the elections and voting process.
The students were elated to participate in the event and expressed gratitude to the Nodal Principal for engaging citizens, promoting democratic values, and providing them the opportunity to raise voter awareness using Cycle rally and other activities.
